Rules

The Chetty Cup will follow the standard USA Ball Hockey Rules with the following modifications and points of emphasis.

—————————-

General:

  1. There will be no tolerance for fighting. Should a fight occur, both players will be ejected and banned for the remainder of the Chetty Cup.
  2. For the Co-Ed division only, there must be at least one female player on the rink at all times.
  3. Minor penalties will be 1 minute, major penalties will be 3 minutes. Should a player receive 3 major penalties throughout the tournament they will be suspended for the remainder of the games (round robin and playoffs).
  4. The referees have discretion to issue a misconduct penalty to a player or coach who commits an act of unsportsmanlike conduct (physically or verbally) towards the opposing team, the referees, timekeeper, scorer, spectators, tournament organizers, or any other individual associated with the tournament. A misconduct penalty will result in that player’s immediate ejection from the game and suspension for the team’s next game.
  5. If a tournament player not participating in the current game commits an act of unsportsmanlike conduct, they will be issued a misconduct and be suspended for their team’s next 2 games and their team will start both games with a major penalty against them.
  6. There will be no tolerance for arguing with, yelling at, or otherwise abusing referees. The first infraction will result in a minor penalty to the offending player, the second offense will result in a major penalty and ejection. Any incident of a player physically touching a referee will result in a misconduct.
  7. Each team will receive a single 60 second time-out that can be used at any point of the game. Teams do NOT receive additional time-outs in Overtime.
  8. As the rink is enclosed, any ball that contacts the roof, netting, or any other structure outside the rink will result in the play being blown dead. The faceoff will take place in the defensive zone of the team that shot the ball out of the rink.
  9. The doors to the penalty boxes are to be opened and closed by the penalized player. It is the player’s responsibility to ensure that they leave the box when the penalty is over and firmly close the door so it latches behind them.
  10. Any decision regarding rule interpretation, player punishment, etc. will be handled by the Head Referee, Trevor Jarvis, not by tournament organizers. Chetty Cup tournament officials reserve the right to reduce or impose further penalties to the offending player or team depending on the severity of the incident.
